Diabetes: No Sugarcoating Allowed, UMass Boston, Introduction to Asian American Studies

Chihiro Hernandez and Tracy Iftikar were delighted to visit the “Introduction to Asian American Studies” course at UMass Boston. In a space designed to explore Asian American issues and experiences, Chihiro and Tracy talked about the “model minority myth” and how it has impacted the Asian American community in terms of awareness, treatment and resources, and research. Students had many questions about preventing and living with diabetes and shared their insights on the Asian American health experience.
