Question:
What is the acceptable A1C number-I have a persistent number of 6.4-6.6% - is that a matter of concern?
Answer:

The new criteria for diabetes is A1c ≥ 6.5. Those who have an A1c between 5.7-6.4 are considered to have pre-diabetes. Your numbers saddle between the two categories. Regardless of the exact category you fall in, you are at high risk and this is an alarm call for you to seek medical attention. Please don't fall into a false sense of security.  Diabetes is a progressive condition."  Now is the best time to take control!
