AADI is hosting the MA Asian American Diabetes Summit, highlighting community health organizations, healthcare providers, educators, and researchers to find ways to bring culturally relevant care and resources to our diverse Asian American communities.
On May 13, 2024 we will be hosting the Annual Lawrence and Evelyn Wing Family Lectureship on Diabetes. This year we are honoured to have Dr. Alka Kanaya join us for the 6th annual lectureship titled “Cardiometabolic Health of South Asian Americans”.
AAPCHO released a report "Community Health Center Strategies for Diabetes Prevention for Asian Americans" from their learning collaborative series. AADI also took part in sharing how to care for Asian American patients with diabetes.
We are excited to be invited back for another Parent Cafe at the Quincy Head Start program! This talk will be led by Ka Hei Karen Lau and will focus on diabetes prevention and healthy eating for parents and their families.
The AADI hosted a hybrid diabetes listening session at South Cove Community Health Center. Representatives and providers from various organizations were in attendance, we learned the needs and discussed possible solutions to better serve the Asian American communities and patients.

Our panel of experts from Joslin Diabetes Center, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health will present on diabetes, obesity and nutrition. They will also offer guidance on how Asian Americans can prevent or better manage diabetes and what to be mindful of with foods we enjoy every day.

The AADI is starting a clinical research funded by the NIH (National Institutes of Health). We aim to evaluate the effectiveness of using CGM (continuous glucose monitors) in Asian Americans with type 2 diabetes, as well as the various factors that may promote or hinder its use.

For years, Chef Jimmy Liang and the JP Fuji Group have been supporting various Joslin's AADI programs through A Taste of Ginger and community events. But their dedication to support organizations like ours and give back to the community goes all the way back to when they launched their first restaurant in Quincy.
Chihiro joined the CDC's Formative Evaluation Advisory Committee as one of the 8 advisors representing various disproportionately affected populations (DAPs) and Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) service providers.
Asian Clinic continues to hold hybrid appointments on Wednesday 1pm-4:30pm and Thursday 9am-11:30am. In the month of August, we had 47 in-person appointments and 28 telehealth appointments.
